Happy Halloween!!

 Happy Halloween!  Sorry no costumes this year, but we make up for it by how cute we are!!

We had a busy week this week.  We had lots of visitors stop by, I think at least one a day!  Aunt Michele and cousin Ashlynne stopped by one evening before gymnastics.

Great Grandma Rhein stopped by to see us and was just thrilled to meet Reese and Grant! 

The babies had a busy day on Saturday with two outings!  We first stopped over to see Aunt Jessica and their new cousins, Jaleigh, Josh and Jordan!  A lot of excitement!

Then we headed over to see Sydney and Morgie(and Beth and Bryan too)!  They were so wore out, that they slept most of the time!  Morgie was the only one who had the energy to stay awake and play!

 Sunday we went to Grandma and Gramps house to visit.  We had a good time in our Halloween gear again!  Good thing the babies are photogenic!

 When we came home, we decided that it was such a nice day we should take them for a little ride in the stroller!  Check out Dad with the limo stroller!  We stopped across the street to say hi to the neighbors Gail and Ray.  They were so tickled to meet Reese and Grant!  What a nice day today!

Happy 3 Week Birthday!!!

Before you know it, Reese will be 21 and going on her first date! (Already have the rules in place!) HA HA HA!!!

First Doctor Visit

Yesterday(Tuesday October 26th) was Reese and Grant's first visit to see Dr.Norman...And mommy and daddy's first outing with the babies!  Everything went pretty smooth, we were a little late, but not too bad for our first time out! 

They liked the doctor and the nurses were great!  Everyone wanted to get a glimpse of our two little angels!
Reese weighed in at 8 lbs, 4oz!  No wonder those Newborn clothes are so snug!
Grant is growing too and weighed 6 lbs, 12 oz.

Good thing we took the diaper bag along, we had to change both of them at the office, even though we had just changed them before we left home.  HA! 

Doctor didn't say too much, other than stressing the fact that its important to call immediately if their temp is over 100...that and he said to keep them out of public too much with all the germs. At least for the first couple months. So we'll do our best to keep them safe and germ free! Remember to scrub up if you come by!

Together Again!

2 week Birthday!

Happy 2 week birthday Reese and Grant! We wish you were celebrating at home!  At least Reese will get out of isolation on Friday and get to celebrate with her brother.  Reese is doing great and we are still not sure why they think they need to keep her longer.   We are going to talk to the doctors again and see if we can get her home soon.  Grant is still not wanting to stay awake too long and eat.  He did finish a bottle for me tonight and was real awake.  He seems to be a night owl, the ladies on the night shift must be more exciting than the day shift!  They said he was up most of the night Wednesday night...no wonder he slept most of the day Thursday!
Both babies are growing every day, Grant is now past his birth weight, and Reese is almost back to hers.

Day 10 update

Reese and Grant are still in the special nursery at Barnes Hospital. 


Grant is eating better, he even finished two whole bottles over the last 12 hours!  Go Grant Go!  Once he can keep that up, they will take his feeding tube out and watch him for 24 hours, then its time for the circumcision...yikes!  After that he will stay another 24 hours, and if he still eats and all is well, he will come home.  WE are hoping by the end of the week he will be ready. (but we are trying not to get our hopes up too high, we are just playing each day as it comes)

Reese WAS set to come home Sunday.  They had taken her tube out Friday night and she has been eating great ever since and even graduated to eating every 4 hours instead of every 3.   However sometime early that morning she started dipping real low on her oxygen levels, so they had to put her back on a low level of oxygen.  She was really fussy all day Sunday, and they decided to do some tests and put her on some antibiotics in case of infection.  They did a chest xray which came back great (better than her initial one), and the urine and blood work all came back great.  The nasal culture they did is still being watched and will be for 5 days to see if she got some sort of virus.  Soooooo, they had to put her in an isolation room until they can get a better idea of what she might have caught.  They just really want to watch for RSV since she is a preemie and they don't want it to spread to any of the other babies or make her worse.  So we have to suit up to go see her.  On the bright side, she is still eating her full amount and did not have to be put back on a feeding tube yet.  We just pray she continues to eat and doesn't fall back in that area while we wait for the results. 

1 Week Birthday!

Yesterday, Friday October 15th was Reese and Grant's 1 week birthday!  They are both doing really well, with no major problems. 
Reese got her feeding tube out today!  yeah!!!!!  Not sure when she will get to come home, or if they will have her stay until Grant is ready too, we'll keep you updated!
Grant is still not wanting to do too much more than sleep.  He is getting there slowly but surely.  We can't wait to bring them BOTH home. 
Right now we are only trying to really hold them during feeding times, in hopes that this will give them enough rest so that they can eat like champs!

Reese and Grant still need to learn to eat, then they can come home.  They just get too wore out and want to sleep, so they usually are not finishing a bottle.  Reese did finish a bottle last night after their bath.  She loved the bath, Grant was not so fond of it. She pulled her feeding tube out again after her bath, check out the picture of  her with Michael!
No more Billie light for Reese (jaundice lamp), she did that one day and seems to be fine now.  Grant may be getting his circumcision today or tomorrow...oooowww he  is NOT going to like that!

Grant Chaffin was out! Awww! Mommy’s little son!

But nothing could knock Mom and Dad from their cloud!

Mommy is in a normal room now at Barnes. Hours to visit are 11 - 9.
Reese and Grant are in the special nursery. They are both being given antibiotics and their blood will be monitored for 48 hours to make sure everything is ok. Reese is also on oxygen. She wasn't getting enough, so they have her on it for now as a precaution. They will ween her off slowly. :-)
